Pumpkins and Pillows

I count autumn from the first day of September, and you can already see the Halloween items gathering in the stores.  A quick and easy way to decorate without spending too much money but which can instantly transform a room is with pillow covers.  I love pillow covers!  So I googled Halloween pillow covers, and here are my favorites:

Haunted Barn

Pottery Barn does Halloween well, and I look forward to it every year.

My favorites this time are:

Add spooky charm to a cottage parlor by throwing sheets onto chairs and stretching around some cobwebs.  Accent the mantle with a clutter of unsettling, apothecary objects.

I do love these flying crows.  Something about their mismatched heights, and the black iron reminds me of an old fashioned wind gauge.

Oh, and the threadbare books are a nice touch that transfer well into other seasons.

Pumpkin Punch

The black and white motif is intensified with pops of pumpkin color.

It's a neat way to incorporate the orange without going flashback-to-the-seventies overboard.

I love the torn cheesecloth and have seen that before.  You'll always get pretty far with me and lanterns.  Black branches with hanging bats?  Double-framed black cats?  Graphic calligraphy print on a white pumpkin?

This says Halloween with modern elegance.

Monochrome Halloween

Unpacking my collection of Halloween decorations in my new apartment gave me pause: would all these orange objects clash horribly with the barn reds and Swedish blues I seem to be so fond of?

A quick Google search for black and white Halloween decorations is almost too much!  Who knew that monochromatic could so overwhelm the senses?

And there's lots more where that came from!  Too cool.
